土瓜灣北線: 工業與工運團      Tour of Northern To Kwa Wan: Industrial and Labor Movement

 

1) 煤氣鼓/牛棚  Gasometer / Cattle Depot

1956年興建的煤氣鼓, 相傳負責揸車的員工便住在旁邊的宿舍。牛棚是1908年建成的中央牛隻屠宰中心, 乃三級歷史建築物。

 

The Gasometer was built in 1956. It was told that many drivers of the facility lived in a nearby residence. The Cattle Depot was built in 1908, a central animal slaughter house, now is classified as a Grade III historical building.

 

2) 十三街  The Thirteen Street  

唔講唔知, 十三街的街名全都是跟動物靈獸有關。

 

An interesting story to tell, all of the “Thirteen Street” are named after mystical creatures from the Chinese culture.

 

3) 東方紗廠  Eastern Cotton Mills

1954年的東方紗廠, 雖被到為三級歷史建築, 也逃不掉被拆剩一道外牆的命運。

 

The Eastern Cotton Mills was built in 1954. It is classified as a Grade III historical construction, however only a wall of the building is being left at the site right next to the “Thirteen Street”.

 

4) 宋王臺  Sung Wong Toi

宋王臺加上最近發現的宋朝古井, 令我們更加豐富香港於宋朝年間的生活。

 

Recent findings of ancient artifacts from the Sung Dynasty (together with the historical site of the Sung Wong Toi) enabled us to learn more about the life in Hong Kong during the era.

 

5) 飛行會  Flight Club (Sir Cecil Clementi/GCMG)

59年興建而成的飛行會現址, 一直與啟德、金文泰有著密不可分的關係。

 

The Flight Club was constructed in 1959 which had a very close “relationship” with the old Kai Duk airport, as well as Sir Cecil Clementi.

 

6) 工聯會/珠江戲院  Hong Kong Federation of Trade Union / Ju Kiang Theatre

工聯會及珠江戲院，見證著土瓜灣工人階級的工人生活及政治歷史。

 

The Hong Kong Federation of Trade Union and the Ju Kiang Theatre witness the lives and political history of the laborers in To Kwa Wan.
